It is rare one looks forward to a test match because of the hotel more than the cricket but as Le Meridien Abu Dhabi is top shelf, you pray for three day games (praying for rain won't help!). It has everything you need on a cricket trip, aside the cricket!
Fact: The first match played at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, in 2004, was between Kenya and Scotland.
Though Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates' Capital, is a more traditional low-key city compared with Dubai it doesn’t mean you will be any less entertained & enlightened, but you will know you are in a different city with a broader mix of modern & historical architecture.
With the Emirates’ largest mosque, amazing food & spice souks, and desert adventures for your cultural fix, otherwise doughnut through Ferrari World, walk the Yas Marina Formula One Circuit on Tuesdays, or simply admire outstanding landmarks such as Yas Viceroy Hotel, Capital Gate, Emirates Palace, Etihad Towers, and Aldar HQ. Abu Dhabi is entertaining albeit on a different scale.
If you are joining us here for the 2nd Test, the hotel have offered an Airport Pick-Up and transfer to our 4 star beach side hotel in the Tourist Club area. With WiFi, a poolside bar, sports bar, Irish pub, Brazilian, Malay, Greek, and & Italian restaurants there is no need to leave the hotel for anything edible, unless for slightly more affordable offerings at the enormous Abu Dhabi Mall next door.
If you're coming with us from Dubai we can throw you out in passing or, after checking in, you can zip back to Ferrari World for an afternoon whizzing on the world’s fastest roller coaster if not soaking in Yas Waterworld. If you are inclined for both, a 2-day pass is best, which is not included unlike your match tickets & daily match transfers. We will distribute these the night before the game in the Club Lounge at 6pm where we have access all week, including cocktail hour each night. If you are joining us in Abu Dhabi only, this is when you will also receive your commemorative 'Pakistan in The Emirates 2018' shirts.
With through the night departures, you can enjoy Day 5 of the Test and evening celebrations before flying out that night. This experience ends the day after the Test so get all your sightseeing done, which should include the oasis city of Al Ain that straddles the border with Oman, before the Test.
Abu Dhabi is sure to be mesmerizing, fondly memorable, and a perfect place to end another great Experience of Arabia.
