Australian Cricket Tour To South Africa - Travel Advice

GETTING THERE

Getting to South Africa is as straight-forward and common as jetting between Melbourne and Sydney, just not as quick.

Qantas fly direct Sydney to Jo'burg, with every major Asian, Middle Eastern and European Airline fly to Jo'burg & Cape Town via their respective hubs.

You are not short of choice, with the longer routes usually cheaper whilst offering more valuable arimiles and status credits if you are indeed a points chaser.

SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS

This is not the most convenient means to reach the cricket. All trains go to/from Johannesburg and only operate twice weekly to Cape Town and Durban, and thrice weekly to Port Elizabeth and East London.

There is no coastal train from Durban to Cape Town, sadly.

If the frequency isn't inconvenient enough, the 570km (6hour drive | 40mins flight) from Jo'burg to Durban is a painstaking 18.5hours by train.
