Bhutan Believe

Known as 'the last Shangri-La', the serene Kingdom of Bhutan is on the cusp of unimaginable change.

Only 8 daily international flights arrive at Bhutan's Paro airport, but Gelephu (Geller-foo) Mindfulness City Airport, in southern Bhutan, will change the dynamic of this very quiet nation, hosting up to 123 daily flights after it opens in 2029.

Come now and forever hold that peace!

We visited Bhutan last April when preparing our Australian Cricket Tour to India 2027 and were blown-away by this stunning nation; its people and geography. And after 3 weeks in India the quiet was deafening, and super-clean air biting.

At the Himalayan foothills, we only scratched a small but well-trodden path that we will walk again in Feb 2027, before the 3rd Test in must-visit Guwahati!

Weeks before our visit a new flight between Bhutan and Bangkok was launched. What makes this special is that it stops in Guwahati!

This bore the inspiration to travel to this soothing Kingdom, with intent to include it in our Australian Cricket Tour To India 2027 knowing we could fly to Guwahati from a nation without mass-tourism!

Bhutan's tourism is highly regulated, extremely well-managed, and must be booked and paid through a licenced Bhutan tour operator.

You just can't rock-up to the border as you do in Nepal and say "G'day, can I come in please?"

Your visa, 'sustainable development fee' (US$100 per day), hotel, flights, guide, travel, fees, and meals are included in a single price. It is by definition the easiest nation to travel, and where there is no angst, worries or even sadness.

Fourth King of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, coined and forged 'Gross National Happiness' in the '70's, and which remains very prevalent.

Arriving at the most spectacular airport terminal, after chatting to the world's most kindly immigration officers, and standing at aviation's most beautiful baggage carousels, you enter Bhutan's soothing quiet to be welcomed by your 'happy' guide, who MUST wear national dress.

Each guide is limited to 12 guests as Bhutan doesn't want to limit what we can learn by what only one guide can teach.

Our 6 nights include the best of western Bhutan, embracing a much-travelled itinerary of two nights in each town of Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro.

Daily activities vary but include fortresses, temples, markets, monasteries, farms, archery, bridges, rivers, golf, and hiking to scenic viewpoints.

We do many things but nothing to burst valves except the reason for most people's visit; spectacular 'Tiger's Nest' Monastery, perched 3000m above sea-level.

It is breathtaking in every sense, but you cannot visit Bhutan without seeing it yet after 2029 you may not see it all (through the people)!
