Cricket In India 2027
India is tough!
India is filled with unknowns & uncertainty, endurance & exhaustion, disappointment & disbelief.
We love it!
Cricket in India showcases the game and nation that you may not see otherwise. It is a madhouse of frustration, annoyance, intrigue, and wonder, rolled into frenzy filled stadiums that always sell out*!
The noise, atmosphere, passion, the noise, should be experienced across the land; not just quiet & calm Dharamsala. If you want to feel what cricket in India is truly like, don't go to Dharamsala; though it is spectacular, win or lose!
After Australia sensationally won 2-1 in 2004, Australia has only won two tests in India since; Pune 2017 and Indore 2023. Such 'poor form' doesn't mean you shouldn't dip you toe!
Granted, India is much easier to travel now than our first foray in 1996, with everything from rickshaws to match tickets* bookable before you leave home. But, it is still India with 1.5 billion people trying to get somewhere, do something, or watch cricket in an area marginally larger than Western Australia.
India can be extremely daunting & debillitating, especially travelling alone, but don't fret, this is where we come in. The Australian Cricket Tour to India 2027 will be our 23rd visit, so our vast experience of this wild cricket nation is what makes us invaluable.
We will help you get the best from India, whether you come for one test or all five, played over a packed 7 weeks.

Australian Cricket Tours In India
Our first foray into India was the Cricket World Cup 1996 and 30 years later an Australian Cricket Tour to India is one of our most impassioned. We toured alone in 1996 but decades later there is now an ever-growing lust by an ever-growing number of people that want us to help them experience the 'madness of India'.
We first hosted an Australian Cricket Tour to India 2001; the famous 'follow-on' Test of Kolkata. We inspired other tour groups to brave India in 2004 and they've been following our suit ever since.
We may be copied but what elevates over other groups is our experience and understanding of India. We love watching cricket in India and base our tours on making it easier for you to do the same, in the fashion that we like to do it.
We just don't find pretty hotels in which to hide for one week. No. We seek dive bars, greasy spoon cafes, food streets, roof top restaurants, craft brewhouses, and markets synonomous with India, and which we believe helps you enjoy it more.
We deliver a genuine flavour of India street life and society. If you want to stay at the hotel bar, you are more than welcome. We simply offer a unique alternative.
Furthermore is our preparation.
We tour each city well-before the first ball to understand life around the hotel & ground. It isn't just about getting you to and from a flashy hotel and the game. Very little stays the same in India, and why it is important for us to know the change, for your benefit.
We visited Dharamsala twice before the Australian Cricket Tour To India 2023 to know everything was in place but it didn't stop the test match being switched to Indore. Thankfully we had been to Indore 'just in case' and new exactly where to go.
#Preparation
And just India changes, so do we. We always do different things, and do the same things differently each tour; albeit choosing a new hotel or side-trip destination.
Far from our first Australian Cricket Tour To India 2001, we now stay in 4- or 5-star hotels*, include airport transfers, 1st class Indian Railways, match ticket hospitality, dinner parties, side-trips, apparel, and so much more.

We do not yet know the match schedule or venues. If we did, they would be published, so please don't ask. We could play at any of India's 17 test venues, in any order, all of which may be changed at any given time before the first ball.
HOT TIP: Consider booking a flexible airline ticket to/from India. Once the schedule is confirmed, and you have booked your 'cheapest available' flights, the ever-demoralising India schedule change may require you to arrive earlier, leave later, or even cancel your trip!
#TravelInsurance
We endeavour to learn about any potential schedule changes before they happen but do know that after confirmation, Indian cricket schedules change without warning as they did in 2023 (and 2017, 2013, 2010, 2008, 2004, and 2001!) because the ground (below) was not fit for purpose. What was worst about 2023 was that the 3rd Test was not changed until AFTER the series had started.
#BallAche
We can't help these, so please, like some did in 2023, do not blame us for the inner-workings of the BCCI that effect your confirmed travel plans. They effect ours too.

India Cricket Tour 2027
When you join our Australian Cricket Tour To India 2027 our goal is to mkae your brief time in this vast country as hassle-free, affordable, and stright-forward as possible.
Hassles in India are common but tempered when endured with awesome people.
Though capable of 'doing it themselves', many regularly tour with us not because they need their hand held, but because they love watching cricket with us and the people we tour with. We focus on bringing people together at the game, safely and comfortably.
Being a 5 Test Series over 7 weeks, each test match tour will be 7 nights. We'll have 6 add-on tours of between 2-7 nights depending on the confirmed schedule and time between tests.
You can book one test, all five, or just a few in the middle, along with our add-on tours. It's your tour, so book what best suits your time. We know some will tour for 7 weeks, whereas others will come for just one test match only.
#YourChoice
If our hotel tours are not your cuppa, our popular Match Tickets Package, will make it easier and more affordable for you to remain solo yet still enjoy Australian Cricket in India with us.
Getting To/From India 2027
Is entirely up to you.
We don't include flights to or from India as people join us from all over the world. You make your own way to India when your tour will start.
Direct flights from Melbourne and Sydney with Qantas into New Delhi and Bengaluru makes India infintely easier to reach for rusted-on QFF's than in 2023.
Connecting through Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and mainland China will give you round the clock choices into near countless cities, so if the first test is in Visakhapatnam, you're still only one stop from home!
When you fly into India we will meet you at the airport, which may be AFTER a domestic connection (Dharmasala!), two days before the Test and transfer you to the hotel.
If you arrive 3 days before the Test, you will need an extra night and we won't be able to meet you. The hotel will meet you if you book an extra night as part of your tour. If you book an extra night independently, make your own way using the pre-paid airport taxi or app-based taxi service.
Many flights depart India through the night so you can book a flight home on the night of Day 5 or early morning Day 6, without worrying about needing an extra night, or having to hang about for an evening flight on Day 6.

One Test Match ONLY
Many ask, 'Do I have to do the whole tour?'
No, you don't.
If you only want to do one test match of the Australian Cricket Tour to India 2027, please do.
No one is obliged to do ALL five tests.
ALL Test Matches are available to book as individual tours
Fly in, go to one test, fly out. #JobDone

Hotels In India
There are dozens upon hundreds of places to stay of varying standards in all cities. Weeding out the tosh, knowing wide-angled photos do wonders to improve false quality, is not easy, even for so called '5 Star'.
#Lipstick
Global giants such as Hyatt, Radisson, Hilton, and Marriott with 4 and 5 star properties are commonplace across India. Conversely Indian brands with exemplery services standards such as Oberoi, Taj, Vivanta, The Park, The Leela, and ITC are indeed on our radar.
Not every brand is in every city, let alone near the cricket stadium, so we need to know where we will stay, before we know where we will play. Even touring India as often as we do, we do a a pre-tour tour of each city and hotel that we would like stay, before deciding whose pillows to fight with.
The choice is broad, but (where available) we only choose 4 or 5 star hotels, whose primary difference is often merely size of the entrance fountain and price, but you won't go wrong with the quality and tireless guest services. You will want for nothing.
Surprisingly though 4-star hotels that are near the venue can be far more expensive than distant 5-star hotels, so we do choose to pay for the convenience.
We prefer hotels with rooftop restaurants and pools, but more importantly are close to the ground so you can walk or take a rickshaw, as we often don't include match-day transfers in India. It can be quicker, cheaper, and more timely for you to book an Uber rickshaw or take the Metro, than travel when we tell you.
We post links to our hotels for you to decide if you wish to tour, based on our choice, for if you don't like our hotel then best you don't book. We believe you should know where you are staying, whereas other groups simply state, 'quality hotels throughout' or 'Hilton New Delhi (or equivalent).'
#CopOut
There has always been big brands in big cities, yet smaller cities such as Ranchi, Rajkot, Raipur, Dharamsala, and Dehradun, may only have one or two 4-Star hotels so you may have to compromise. Remember, we are in India for the cricket and not the thread count.

Twin-Sharing Hotel Rooms
Due to rare 'conflicts of personality' on previous tours, we stopped offering 'twin-share with anyone' from India 2023. We don't 'vet' people by asking their age or smoker status for example, we randomly partner people (of the same sex) to share a twin-bedded room and literally hope for the best.
It usually works out!
On the Australian Cricket Tour of the West Indies 2025 we re-introduced random 'twin-sharing', knowing it was an expensive tour, let alone booking a 'single room'.
The good news for those happy to make new friends, understanding that some tests, namely Dharamsala, are much pricier than 2023, is that we have kept random twin-sharing for our Australian Cricket Tour to India 2027. It will be different though than years' past.
Instead of rooming you with someone you may not get along with for 2-6 weeks, we will swap everyone around each test match, including any add-on tours.
Conversely, if you find a roomie that you do get along with, and most people do, we can room you together across multiple test, you both just have to let us know.
Keep that in mind when selecting 'twin-room | two-beds | one person'. Otherwise, if you do not want to share a room with a stranger, select 'single room | one bed | one person'.

Cricket Tickets India 2027
ALL venues in India SELL OUT by virtue of them ONLY selling 5-day tickets. If you only want to go to one day, you must buy a 5-day ticket.
This is still normal practice at the time of writing.
When you hear commentators say the venue is SOLD OUT but only see 5000 people it's because the other 20000+ tickets have been bought by people only attending Days 2 or 3 or 4 or 5.
If you only want to come for 1, 2 or 3 days buy our Match Tickets Package and donate unneeded day tickets to kids, your taxi driver, or hotel staff, etc... .
When you join our Australian Cricket Tour To India 2027 we will buy from each venue on your behalf, as included in your package, match tickets to all 5 days of each test. All match tickets will be in the same stand/area regardless of your booked tour package.
*There are no reserved seats at Test Matches in India*
Tickets will be in stands shaded for much if not all the day, looking up and down the wicket, where available, otherwise we sit at 'fine-leg/third man' on the western side (so the sun goes behind us).
Many grounds in India have very high rooves, so early morning or late afternoon sun may peek under. Test Cricket starts at 0930am so 'early morning' is just that.
- In 2023 all seats in all venues were shaded for the day's entirety, looking up & down the wicket
Hospitality
If you want air-conditioned hospitality, which may include alcohol (TBC), we will make these available once we confirm with each venue. Hospitality may be side on to the pitch.
- Alcohol is not served in any public stand in India
Cricket Tickets Online:
If you buy tickets online you must go to the ticket office and join the long line to swap your confirmation for physical tickets. Avoid the hassle by collecting tickets and a few beers at our pre-test function with our Match Tickets Package.
- If you are not booking our hotel package or match tickets from us, please, do not ask where to buy tickets online
- Under any circumstance, there is no ticket refund

Dharamsala Cricket Tickets 2027
Should we play in Dharamsala (the BCCI owe us a test following 2023), we know most hotels are high in the mountains, deep in the valleys, or on lonely green meadows, far from Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium.
We also know that there are no rickshaws 'down the hill' near the venue, so getting to and from our pre-test function to collect match tickets may be difficult, thus there is no Dharamsala Match Tickets Package.
If you are not booking our full hotel tour, which includes match tickets, you can book:
- MATCH TICKETS ONLY
If you buy your match tickets through us, you will collect them on the day before the game (venue TBC), along with one India 2027 Tour Shirt.
*YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COLLECT YOUR MATCH TICKETS ON MATCH DAY*
Match tickets will be best available, shaded, looking up and down the wicket, and importantly looking at the Dhauladhar Ranges, which is really why you're coming!
If you want to enjoy cricket in 'Dharamsala' book now:

Add-On & Day Trips
India has amazing sights, sounds, festivals, and fanfare in most cities, most of the time. India is huge and it is impossible to see everything, notwithstanding, it takes a seriously long time to get places, which is why we no longer include or even organise day-trips.
If a test match ends early we will suggest things to do, but even the 'shortest' of day trips can get you back well-after dark. Visit a nearby monument, museum, or market, but we recommend avoiding long-distance adventures.
*In 2013 a group organised a day-trip from New Delhi to Jaipur. Leaving at 0700am, they returned at midnight, not 7pm.*
Between Tests, you're welcome to go where you like, but we will have add-on trips starting with Rajasthan before the first Test to help you decide. Jan-Feb is the best time to visit Rajasthan, and should not be missed especially if heading to India for the first time.
The confirmed schedule will determine what we do before and between each Test.

Taj Mahal 2027
On every Australian Cricket Tour to India, we have visited the Taj Mahal, whether on a 3-night stay, or fleeting 7 hours as we had in 2023 on our way to Rajasthan.
No matter how often we visit this stunning monument, we always want to see it again. We are not sure when to include 'The Taj' in 2027, but if not with us, you can easily do it in a day by train from New Delhi.
The Agra specific Gatimaan Express takes 100mins, so you can leave New Delhi at 8am and be back by 8pm. Up to 61 trains per day roll from Delhi to Agra, taking up to 4 hours, costing between A$3-A$23 one-way.
*The Taj Mahal is closed EVERY Friday*

Indian Railways
If you've never travelled on India's giant life-line, or even been to India, 'Indian Railways' is not with 000's of people covering the roof, or clinging to doors & open windows. Those images you muster are trains delivering the mass-market to city outskirt events; they're not your everyday long-distance commuter rakes.
From high-speed luxury first class, 6 hour double-decked commuters, to slow days-long mail trains, the spectrum is a broad, fascinating, safe, comfy, and affordable.

We would love to use Indian Railways (1st Class AirCon) between tests, but not knowing where and when we are playing it is impossible to say how we will get about.
We will only use day trains.
Even if we include Indian Railways in 2027, you can still fly between cities if you prefer, though you will miss an unique persepective of India life. Over the last 30 years, we have had many incredible railways journeys across India.
When tour games were heavy on the schedule and there was loads of time between games, in 2001 we trundled for 272 hours on Indian Railways to & from 3 Tour Games, 3 Tests, & 5 ODI's from in Feb 17 to April 6 ending in Goa; an awesome place to finish!
If you travel India independently, we recommend First Class Air-Con (1A) with bedding included, for little more than it costs for a 2nd class sleeper (no bedding!).
The most you pay is A$130 for 33 hours and two nights from New Delhi to Bengaluru, including all meals, on the Rajdhani Express. Slower 1st Class trains (40+ hours) without meals are approx A$100.
There is no train to Dharamsala! Take the train from New Delhi to Pathankot and then a taxi 85km to Dharamsala.

Booking India 2027
India is an outstanding country to travel and watch cricket and we will be thrilled to help you experience India for the first time or even again.
If you want to enjoy our Australian Cricket Tour To India 2027 book your place on our priority list now, especially for Dharamsala as these places will be limited.
