GETTING THERE AND AWAY
Getting to Pakistan is limited as airlines take time to reopen routes post C19. Although we are flying from Melbourne via Colombo on Sri Lankan, the best is via Dubai (Emirates) or Doha (Qatar) with multiple daily flights to Karachi, Multan, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and even Faisalabad. Thus, from Parramatta it is easier to reach Pakistan than it is Paraburdoo! SE Asian airlines currently have limited to no services to Pakistan but research all options on:
Once in Pakistan travel between cricket cities is easy by train or plane. There's a wealth of long-distance buses with business class and beds if you want to travel in luxury to where trains & planes don't. You can rent cars with drivers or brave the roads yourself.
- Orient yourself with C19 Pakistan Travel Requirements
WHEN TO ARRIVE AND DEPART
Once you are in Pakistan, and you are doing more than 1 Test, all domestic travel is included in your tour. You need to book your preferred international flight to arrive and depart as needed such as into Karachi and out of Lahore if you are doing all 3 Tests.
1st Test - If you are coming to Pakistan for the 1st Test in Karachi, book your flight to arrive into Karachi (KHI) on Tuesday March 1. If you are leaving us after the 1st Test, your 8th and final night of your tour is March 8.
- Allow time for pre-departure C19 Testing
2nd Test - If you are coming to Pakistan for the 2nd Test in Rawalpindi, book your flight to arrive into Islamabad (ISB) on Thursday March 10. If you are leaving us after the 2nd Test, your 8th and final night of your tour is March 17.
- Allow time for pre-departure C19 Testing
3rd Test - If you are coming to Pakistan for the 3rd Test in Lahore, book your flight to arrive into Lahore (LHE) on Friday March 18. If you are leaving us after the 3rd Test, your 8th and final night of the tour is March 25.
- Allow time for pre-departure C19 Testing
If you are enjoying the unmissable Hunza Valley with us after the 3rd Test, we leave Lahore on March 26 and return to Islamabad by flight on April 3 at 1310pm (TBC). You should book your onward flight from Islamabad for April 4 or onwards.
- Allow time for pre-departure C19 Testing
Etihad Airways at 1955pm to Abu Dhabi, or Pakistan International Airways at 1900pm to Dubai (via Karachi) are the only flights departing Pakistan on April 3 after we arrive from Gilgit. The earliest departures on April 4 is to Dubai on Pakistan International Airways at 0145am and Emirates at 0305am.
As such, you may need a hotel reservation for the night of April 3.
GETTING AROUND PAKISTAN
We no longer include flights if required between Karachi or Islamabad/Lahore. Any domestic flights we need will be confirmed here and on each tour page, so you can book the same. Our hotel will transfer you to/from each airport so you don't have to book the same flights
If you are joining us at multiple Tests, you need to book domestic flights:
- Islamabad - Karachi on March 10
- Karachi - Lahore on March 18

PAKISTAN RAILWAYS
1998 could not have been a worse match schedule, requiring travel by train from Peshawar to Karachi. Told it was 25 hours, it took 42 hours and scarred me deep but not deep enough to stop me from travelling on Pakistan Railways again. Since the those harsh days, service and rolling stock has improved immensely making journeys far more comfortable and reliable.
When you join us for the Australian Cricket Tour to Pakistan 2022 we include rail travel as required for the short jaunt between Rawalpindi and Lahore. Travel to or from Karachi is best done by flight, though you can overnight by train.

LONG-DISTANCE BUSES
With more choice than train, travel between Pindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Faisalabad, and Multan can be quicker and more timely by bus. I wouldn't travel by bus to or from Karachi but long-distance buses connect small towns & centres where the rails don't. If travelling throughout Pakistan and you want to see amazing sights that trains & planes pass by, then buses can serve you well.
