Table Mountain Aerial Cableway | Cape Town
Since October 4, 1929, Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has given visitors and locals breathtaking views of South Africa's Western Cape and city of Cape Town. It has been upgraded several times through years, the most recent in 1997 when 'rotairs' were introduced to carry 65 people up and down the famed mountain.

The floor of 'rotairs' revolve giving everyone the chance to view the mountain, city, and Atlantic waters as the car ascends and descends the 1.2km long cables. It takes 5 mins to reach the summit across which walking paths weave to all points of the mountain allowing many people to 'spend a day' exploring the countless view from all sides, provided the swiftly changing weather allows.
Should time be limited, if you go before play at Newlands, you can simply pull up a rock and lose yourself in the magic of the few moments before heading back down. Or you can pull up a seat at the restaurant and bar and wallow in wonder.

However long you spend 'up top', it is worth every minute, bearing in mind the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway closee for adverse weather. In which case, pull on your walking boots and take a hike as we did during the Australian Cricket Tour to South Africa 1997 when the new cableway was being installed.
