Australia Vs Afghanistan Test Match 2022 Itinerary
AUSTRALIA VS AFGHANISTAN TEST MATCH 2022 - ITINERARY
In Sept 2022 Afghanistan host Australia in their first-ever Test on 'home soil' in a one off match we believe will be played in Dehradun, India. Knowing we won't play in Afghanistan we are confident (hopeful) about this because Dehradun was announced as 'Afghanistan's 2nd Home Ground in India'. The first is in Noida, in New Delhi's 'Greater Capital Area' however this is a low-level first class practice ground at best, which Afghanistan has regularly used.
Afghanistan played their first Test against Ireland in Dehradun in 2019 thus we see no reason why Australia would not (agree to) play Afghanistan in this delightful town at the foot of the Himalayas. It is Afghanistan's 'home match' so any advantage they can have by hosting Australia at a ground they are familiar with is fair enough.
The Test is scheduled to be played in the 2nd week of September at Doon Sports Club, preceding the Australian Cricket Tour to India 2022 in Oct - Nov. Disappointingly, the Test does not immediately precede Australia India Test Series as the Asia Cup will be played in Pakistan in the last two weeks of September (TBC).
With our Australia Vs India Test Series 2022 itinerary set around Diwali on October 24, 2022, along with the Asia Cup in which India and Afghanistan will compete, we have worked back to this 'presumptive' match fixture:
