Australian Cricket Tours - A Giant Board At Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus In Mumbai Displays The 'Itinerary' Of Trains In Hindi

Australia Vs India 2022 Test Series - Itinerary

👉This Series Is Feb-Mar 2023👈

An Australian Cricket Tour to India is always met with uncertainty. Not about the wonderful country that is India, but the uncertainty of not knowing where and when we are playing until a few weeks before the first ball.

We’ve said it countless times over the last 25 years of watching cricket in India, “We've known for 3 / 4 / 5 years that we are playing in India in Feb / Mar / Oct / Nov, yet the BCCI acts as if Cricket Australia called them over the weekend asking if they can tour next week, and they’re struggling to find venues.”

Only after the years of waiting to learn where we need to fly into, and after booking flights, is the ‘confirmed fixture’ then changed because of a very foreseen circumstance that no one bothered to see, such as Diwali 2008.

With the 3rd Test in New Delhi starting October 28, 4 weeks before the first ball someone realised the match was starting on Diwali. Equal to the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne starting on Christmas Day and weeks before someone despairingly tells the fixtures secretary’s 'it's Christmas Day!'

So, we simply started the next day and more than 70 on our Australian Cricket Tour to India had to miss the last day or their flight. This is without mentioning changed cities and dates of every Cricket Tour to India since our 2001 Test Tour.

With the time taken to release schedules you’d think there were heated committees day after day nutting it out. There probably is, but why argue for years over a fixture only to decide on a whim to start the next day or in another city. Create a fixture 6-12 months in advance and be done with it. Waiting so long to release a fixture doesn’t help. Changing it on a whim helps even less.

Though we have no idea where we will be playing in India 2022, we can still prepare our preferred tour. What we present is far from what the schedule will be, no doubt. With 19 active test venues in India, we could play anywhere, in any order.

To give you a good idea how our Australian Cricket Tour to India 2022 may look, and when it will be, we have created this ‘example itinerary’ based around one very-important date.

October 24. This is Diwali 2022

Australia is scheduled to play into the 1st week of Nov, so the 3rd Test should be Oct 25 - 29 following Diwali. After the regular 3 days break, the 4th Test should be Nov 2 - 6. Knowing this, you can start ‘guessing’ your holiday time.

Our itinerary has been worked around and back from Diwali as far as the Australia vs Afghanistan Test Match likely to be played in Dehradun in the 2nd week of September, as scheduled.

Welcome To Kolkata

👉This Series Is Feb-Mar 2023👈

For wont of a better expression, Kolkata is one British occupation's great legacies. From cathedrals, forts, monuments, and marvellous architecture, you can invest a week in Kolkata without seeing a ball bowled. If you have the chance, a day of cricket at Eden Gardens with India's most fierce & parochial supporters will sort you out, and beg you to come back for more. It will have been more than 21 years since the Australia Cricket Tour To India played in Kolkata so we have fingers crossed to finally return to this epic stadium.

 Welcome to Bengaluru

👉This Series Is Feb-Mar 2023👈

Perhaps our favourite city & stadium in India, where Australia has played every Test Series in the last 25 years except for 2001 and 2013. Thus the familiarity and fondness makes cricket life in this silicon valley of India even more enjoyable. Far from the energy of the game at mighty Chinnaswamy, the parks, tree lined streets, semi-orderly traffic, and impressive architecture throughout India's 3rd largest city are worth drinking too in famed Brigade road. The epi-centre of entertainment where locals do not club, they 'lounge'. Brigade Rd is a hubbub of restaurants, pubs, cafes, greasy spoons and guesthouses just down MG Road from our awesome hotel.

Welcome to Mumbai

👉This Series Is Feb-Mar 2023👈

Big, Bold, Bad, Beautiful Bombay, as many locals still call this dynamic city. After many Australian Cricket Tours to India, we both arrive into and call the city Mumbai by default. However you refer India's largest city that is home to India's smallest intl. cricket stadium (per capita) you need to visit no matter where the game takes you. From touristy Colaba to the glitz of Bandra, experience the outdoor laundry at Mahalaxmi, sunset food sellers of Chowpatty, handicrafts in Colaba, stone temples on Elephanta, cricket on Oval Maidan, and wonders of British architecture, namely Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. There is unequal vibrancy that a chilled Kingfisher on a rooftop bar won't soothe.
