Bangladesh 2020

Australia vs Bangladesh 2020
CANCELLED

  • The (Former) Fixture:
    • Tour Game: June 4 - 7 in Chattogram
    • 1st Test: June 9 - 13 in Chattogram
    • 2nd Test: June 19 - 23 in Dhaka

In June 2020 we happily return to 'Bewdiful Bangers' to support Australia as they take on the Tigers in the World Test Championship, and no doubt a trophy series named after a local paint supplier or cement mixer.

Bangladesh is 2nd nature to us as it is home to our fashion guru Bent Banani who have coloured Australian Cricket Tours and thousands across the world with awesome floral shirts since 2009. Two visits per year to 'Bangers' between other Cricket Experiences, including our most recent visit from March 1 - 10, 2020, means we know Dhaka and Chattogram better than most locals, let alone other cricket hosts.

Having enjoyed so much time in Bangladesh, you will experience the quirks and foibles of this strange place in a matter of days that may otherwise take months to discover on your own thus making your time with us far more memorable. We are here to bring people together in a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable environment. It's what we do! :)

As one of the world's most densely populated countries Bangers is crammed with colour, rickshaws, personality, and people, creating piles of passion and gridlock in the streets and stadiums where Bangladesh took Australia to 5-days in each Test of 2006, and in 2017 defeated Australia for the first time in Test cricket. The local heroes are not easy-beats at home and would love to replicate their strong efforts, as Australia work to keep their 'unbeaten series' record on Bangladesh soil.

It is difficult to talk-up Bangladesh with the same enthusiasm one might Barbados; the first two letters of these auspicious destinations the only similarity, though it doesn't make Bangladesh any less eye-opening, exciting, or worthwhile. From the moment you hit immigration where the officer will let you stamp your passport on your preferred page (if you ask), unlike any other nation where the officer can send you home without so much as a conciliatory look of apology let alone a reason (imagine asking to stamp your own passport in the USA!), it's hard to imagine anyone in Bangladesh being anything other than obliging; and they are!

Bangladesh hospitality is 'top of the pops' in a country that doesn't host a checklist of attractions. It's an amazing place requiring lots of patience, lots of storage on your camera, and acceptance of its people wanting little more than your time as you are just one of the very few visitors to this beautiful, lush, green and very wet country. Bangladesh is meshed with more than 700 Rivers and getting about by small fishing boat, giant ferry, paddle-steamer, or rafts of bamboo is the way for most Bangladeshis and for many visitors this creates a beautiful means to see this Asian emerald.

The madness of Sadarghat Ferry Terminal in Old Dhaka

Although we could take you to many beautiful places, what you do before or after the cricket we leave for you. Whether it's UNESCO World Heritage 'Sundarbans' for Bengal tigers, the cool tea hill country of Sylhet, or the world's longest beach at Cox's Bazar to name three. The world's longest beach is not Copacabana or Whitehaven in Bangladesh, it's just 120km of not very private sandy solitude as countless locals form frustrating rings of curiosity around your attempt to catch relaxing rays and thus worth avoiding... in my view!

Tourism infrastructure in Bangladesh is an acorn. Travelling by road is laborious and fear-inducing, the railways are fraught with delays and incident, whilst overnight or long-distance ferries are not what I'd comfortably endure. Check out Lonely Planet's river trip highlights for inspiration of where to sail before or after the cricket! Saying this, we include a trip to Rangamati & Kaptai Lake after the Tour Game!

Compared with the world's shorter games, I have always said following Test cricket is best as you spend one week in each city exploring, beaching, hiking, climbing, swimming, golfing, fishing and more, when not at the cricket. Though Chattogram nor Dhaka offers many of these pleasantries in great quality, the peculiar ways of Bangladesh are none like any you will experience anywhere!

We’re here to bring you together at the great game and long after play, whether you experience one Test or two. Our beautiful hotels have bars, pools, spas, gyms, and great restaurants, we know hidden bars in Dhaka and Chattogram, we can get you on the golf course, hopefully into the embassy clubs of Dhaka, and importantly know how to dive safely into the maelstrom of 'Bewdiful Bangers'.

Thank you!!
