The more popular and well-known 'Stellenbosch' is closer to Cape Town but we prefer to go further for what we regard as the far better Franschhoek vineyards.

When the weather is spectacular, as it always has been over the 30 years we have been coming here, the day is even better. We keep fingers crossed for blue skies, but there is much enjoyment still to be had.
Franschhoek village is delightful and we recommend walking a lap of the high-street. You'll have an hour to wander, top up your coffee, visit craft stores, or take a perch at the station pub, before hitting the vineyards.
Unlike other years, there is no tours or tastings included. For the most part, we have all done the 'tours' so this day is about you sampling what you want, when you want.
You can book and pay for tastings at any winery we visit, otherwise we recommend you take a seat and buy a few bottles to share amongst yourselves, or walk the vineyards and soak in the comfort and style of this stunning region.
We will be back in Cape Town in time for you to join us at the Waterfront that evening, if you wish, but remember we have Day 1 tomorrow!
